SYNOPSIS
Vera, daughter of Keshei The Deathless and Princess of a supernatural race known as the Archains, escapes Sancta Realm to become a refugee on earth and founder of Amber Guild, a historical Russian artifacts company; a facade necessary to hide a growing empire of surviving Archains and halfcasts which she must learn to rule over as Queen.
Vera finds herself hardened by the abandonment of Keshei and the betrayal of her former lover General Nikolai during the years of the Russian Revolution which masked a last standoff between the Archains and Guardians: an opposing immortal race who were responsible for the genocide of her people in Sancta. She finds little solace with her new lover Vadim, a halfcast of her own making and as the continuous search for a clue of her father’s return seems to stretch on for eternity, Vera feels lost: until proof of a surviving Guardian descendant is discovered and Spencer, a seemingly unremarkable university student is thrown into a world beyond his wildest dreams.
The uncovered existence of Guardians gives Vera a new focus and an opportunity to prove herself as rightful Queen, however, thanks in part to the betrayal of her father’s halfcast double agent Rasputin and her own halfcast creation Augustina, Vera’s world is rocked with deceit, betrayal and mutiny as Vera’s true desires as a woman and Queen contradict the needs of her faction.
Toska is an 8 x 1 hour adult supernatural drama which merges real world history with Russian mythology and supernatural beings, similar to The Originals and American Gods.
"Though anchored in the drama of ambition, love triangles and vengeance, Toska serves as a platform of historical and mythological revelation, exploring the effects of globalisation and showcasing the deepest and darkest of human instincts and behaviour"
